Coming to our game in a few seasons. Fantastic news. Apparently the average call is 11 seconds. Not bad when you consider that surrounding the ref and all that scuffling takes place right now.

I'm trying to think of some big errors that would have helped us over the years. We've seen some red cards rescinded before. Noble, Adrian, Cole...these obviously wouldn't have happened.

I can't think of any big decisions offside/ penalties or even red cards that could have gone our way this season right now but sure that I read we'd have a lot more points if the officials gave the right decision a few weeks ago. What were they?

Or even ones in the past that would have been a different outcome.

Geoff Hurst's second "goal" in '66, also Frank Lampard's goal against Germany

To be honest, it isn't for me. I'd happily leave it at Goal line tech.

What will we talk/moan about?!

So Antonios goal wouldn't have counted last weekend?

Re: Video Technology
Depends how it's used. I would only like to see the "4th/5th official" sitting watching it on a TV that could offer the referee his opinion in the same way a linesman does.

I think cricket and rugby is a fucking joke as they stand around waiting for a big call to pop up on a big screen.

Re: Video Technology
I think it's a great move, can't see anything negatives from it.

SLH - to be honest I thought we were quite fortunate to get away with a few pens ourselves.

I didn't think the Antonio goal was a foul? Was this a big thing? First I've read or heard about that.

Re: Video Technology
I think Antonio fouled Moreno but against that, McCarthy should have been shown a red for his foul on Payet

Re: Video Technology
11 seconds? I see incidents where professional can't agree on MOTD where you have to look at several times from different angles and still can be sure.

Re: Video Technology
Oh yeah that tackle. I was thinking of the header, as if he fouled the defender to get there.

I don't like the idea of someone OFF THE PITCH being able to stop a game.

In fact I think it's absolutely SHIT.

Re: Video Technology
Collins at Swansea was a penalty and there are loads of incidents.

How's this going to work? IF a referee thinks something isn't a penalty he's not going to refer it to someone in the stands is he?

That's why I think the only way it works in football is what I suggested.

Re: Video Technology
Yeah but those incidents you had Shearer creating a new rule like Butland should be sent off and red carded for not touching a player....

Re: Video Technology
Would also like to see the ability for yellow card to recinded. If they can appeal against a red why not a yellow when clearly wrong.

Re: Video Technology
agree Mac

should only be used when the match day ref has stopped the match, or the ball has gone out of play

Re: Video Technology
They've been doing it in Holland, and they're considering using it next year in the FA Cup i thought i heard. Google is your friend for the ins and outs maybe. I just caught a bit of SSN so not prepared for a full on conflict son!

I'm all for it... Us ROMANS are all for progression and improving the standards of the game and making it a fairer spectacle...

Very much looking forward to it being introduced...

Even in recent weeks alone; Man Utd would've lost Schweinsteiger and Fellaini to red cards against us after video replays and we'd have then easily won the game...

Against Villa; we'd have had two penalties...

Of course, it can work against you as well but fair is fair, in my book...

Re: Video Technology
would be shit if this came in. the whole point of the game is that its open to interpretation and needs to flow. whats next, being like cricket and giving managers chance to appeal decisions?

goalline technology is fine. anything else, no thanks

"Man Utd would've lost Schweinsteiger and Fellaini to red cards against us "

Exactly, although I can't remember the Fellaini one.

I can't find the thread but i'm sure someone posted that we'd be 9 points better off according to some report. We'd have 41 points right now. 2nd in the table?

I'd wait around for an average of 11 seconds a decision for that! Much better than watching scuffling and argy bargy!
